Celebrating God’s Blessings

So God has totally blessed me with some pretty damn amazing and inspirational people in my life… Each of their situations different with different things to celebrate, but celebrating nonetheless! I am so incredibly blessed and cannot help but share their amazing stories and excitement with all of you.

Firstly, Friday, I was hardly on the coast an hour when I bumped into a great friend I’ve had in my life since high school at the Southcoast Mall. She is an amazing woman of God who has been an incredible blessing, always sharing her love and wisdom and inspiring me to do more and be more and constantly seek God in all situations. I have been able to confide in her so many times with my heart and issues and so much more. She is the sister of my friend Ryan, but also a friend I had made being in school, doing a play together and later being there to do my make-up for my matric dance, one day when I get married, I’m sure she’ll be there doing my makeup too just by the way. As I left school our friendship grew and I was able to look to her as a great role model and we got closer as we both were concerned about her brother and later as we prayed for her first born, Reece while he was still in her tummy. God also gave me a vision and prophetic word that I soon shared with Kerry-lee about her son Reece. Now, I am happy to announce that this lovely lady’s family is growing from 3 people to 4 as she is expecting a second little person to be joining soon. Kerry and her husband Kyle have another baby on board and I must say, I am thrilled for them. Reece has grown up so quickly, being one bright little boy. So another little person seems like more joy to be added to this amazing little family. Such blessed news and Kerry is glowing! Hoping to have tea and a little catch up session in this week with Kerry-lee so I am super excited!!! What an inspirational woman!

Then, Saturday evening, I got to spend some time with Kelly!!! His news is that he is heading back to the U.S soon and taking friends with him… He is motivating and inspiring his mates to start doing things and it is a pleasure to watch and hear. He really has matured quite a bit and God really seems to be using him in helping his friends get up and started in life. He’s also turning 21 in less than a month which is pretty exciting too. So I am incredibly proud of my favorite and enjoying every little moment I am having to spend with him.

Then, lastly, one of my oldest friends who I have known since my days of running around in a nappy – Raymond Burger… He’s been in my life forever. We used to live around the corner from each other and our moms are very good friends! We went to the same nursery school and later ended up in the same high school. We’ve been through the laughter and the tears… We have seen the best and worst of each other but have been there to support and believe in each other through it all. Nevermind what people have thought, I have always been proud to call Raymond my friend. He really has been an inspiration in my life as well. He’s had it tough, tougher than a lot of people that I know, but he made the best of it and has turned everything around for the best. If there was one guy whom I never doubted knew God personally and had seen God’s light shine through, that would be Raymond. He doesn’t always believe he’s been the best person, but if people got to see half what I have seen in him and from him, they’d agree he’s pretty incredible. Anyway, in the past few years he’s been in the gym and going at it. Always setting goals and persevering ’til he gets there. If there is a strong person who has taught me about fighting for what’s right and what you want and persisting through anything, battling it out. It would be him. And loving yourself and being you, no matter what. Lessons he’s taught me. Anyway, I’ve watched him and chatted and kept in contact while he has gone through all he has. I have also been there while he has given me lessons on nutrition, spoken about helping people and the book he wants to write, the hours he spent practicing driving with me and many more moments. He’s the one I’ve called if I need advice on body issues or actually any other stuff. He’s always had my back. Now, I get to celebrate another fine moment in his life. On Saturday I saw him for a moment at the rugby game, and I could hardly believe the transformation… But if there has been anyone who could do it, it has been him. Over the past year and a half, I’ve been able to see him before his transformation and now another part of it. It might not be the end or his final goal, but it is a massive goal he has reached! He has lost an incredible amount of weight and the pictures say it all. So, well done to him for getting as far as he has and for all the success still to come! Sooooo amazing! Rejoicing with him in every moment. He is a great inspiration and motivation. If you put your mind to it and with God by your side, you can do anything!

So congrats to these people I am lucky to call friends and family! Amazing people whom God has blessed me with. Love you all xx

Special Weekend Breakaway for Dad’s 50th

In a few days, on Friday 10th May to be exact, I get to fly home and see my dad as he turns 50 on Friday. I get to go home, see the parents and some good friends and get back to the coast for the weekend.
Can’t wait to see my dad and then the beautiful coast – that bridge too… When I do – I know I’m home. And I’m excited and grateful. It is a blessing, even if it is just for a little while!

*Thanks to Stubbs and my mom for the photos.

Looking after Our Souls

644722_4478619680481_1720799057_nMy friend Riamien – what a fantastic friend. She truly was an inspiration to all of us and she will not be forgotten. My beautiful friend who struggled with lung cancer, passed away yesterday, after suffering and being in extreme pain these past few weeks, and then still picking up an infection. Luckily, Jesus really loves us, He comforts us and makes things okay when they seem not to be.

He blessed me with a beautiful friendship with her. I only got to know her after she was diagnosed but man, she had such a beautiful soul. Even in her darkest of hours, when she was in extreme pain and we spoke, even then, although she was struggling, there was so much light and love that came from her.

Yesterday, my parents left after a weekend of having them here in the city. It really was good to see them as well as all the other family. I got to see my mom’s aunt turn 70. I played with the most amazing young kids. I ate and laughed with family. I was able to be kept updated of a friend’s wedding far away by two other very good friends. And yesterday, after spending a weekend with family, I got to spend most of my day and evening last night, with a very close spiritual brother whom I talked about earlier. Jean, who returned from Thailand. His brother, also joined us at the driving range later the afternoon. I was very blessed by these two. Especially, when the news came through of my cherished friend’s death. At that time, we had stopped to get take-away coffee and had headed to our university sport’s fields, to drink our coffee and watch God make thunder and lightning and bring on the rain.

Hearing the news and having been with such good people, God really took care of my soul. He also speaks to me when there is wind and thunder and rain and that was all around last night. So between that and friends, I was being smothered in God’s love and comforted by Him and His grace. After the crying, we sat and watched more of the thunder & lightning, as well as listened to some beautiful songs, one being “Let it Rain”. Through the wind I could feel His love wrap itself around me, and while Jean prayed before we got in the car…for Angels to come, I was able to see angels come. God was there and it was amazing. Yesterday was a beautiful day, despite the loss of my friend. Although I experienced outrage and anger and disappointment towards God, despite all that, Jesus still came & covered me with grace and comfort and love, He overwhelmed me with it and still told me how worthy I am. He truly is a loving Father and He truly blessed me with this weekend, with all that happened and all the people He put there. So thanks to those beautiful people too. God really is taking care of my soul.

And as God takes care of my soul, I pray He will take care of all my precious family and friend’s souls as well as my dear friend’s family in this time.

21 soon Ryanybabes

Today, in exactly one month, one of my best mates turns 21!!! And I can’t wait, then all of us have turned 21. What’s great about that is that I’ll be home for the celebrations and we can all go down to the beach too. So I’m stoked and counting down the days ’til Ryan turns 21.  I can’t wait… It’s going to be fun. Really am missing home and my mates a little and all the mischief they get up to as well as the plates of food they always dish up for me as if I’m a guy and the jokes..

So here are a few photos of a few of the really good times we have had…

21 & Enjoying Sharing

The year leading up to my 21st birthday has been quite a challenge. It has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. So many things I never expected has happened for me and God has surprised me with amazing blessings. I have been through crazy things and still I have no clue where God is leading me. It has been like I am blind-folded and I’m just trusting God to lead the way. I really don’t know what lies ahead but I am sure it will be great…

The closer it got to my 21st, the more challenges came up and I have had to seriously seek God first in my life. But there have been amazing blessings and things I will reflect on in some posts later, but for now I just want to say how thankful I am for my friends and family and people I have met along the way. This past week – that is how long we have celebrated my birthday for, has been tiring and busy but so incredibly special and a time I will not forget. I did celebrate but I also learnt a few hard lessons, I made peace with other things and certain relationships, but also I got to grow and mature so much in this past year as well as in one week. We also went to Thithombo Game Farm to end it all off with my dad’s side of the family and all I can say is that it was INCREDIBLE. I loved every second of being back in the wild doing what I love and getting to share it with my sister and people I really love. Seeing my sister & cousin’s faces when I showed them how the Nyala’s could eat out their mouths or take food from their mouths and that they could touch the animals and form bonds with them…it was irreplaceable moments, as well as the clay fights we had at the waterhole and all the other things we did. I was so blessed by the experience and being able to finally share that with them so that they could see my stories in action.

All I can say is it was such a memorable birthday week, unforgettable and such a blessing. The peace, the stories, the jokes, the sounds, the beauty, the love, every single thing – I am thankful for.

Sisters Soak Up the Sun

Yesterday was a windy day here on the coast, but as we are beach lovers, coastal kids – that didn’t stop us from having fun & getting out.

The storm of my sister telling my parents about her tongue ring had died down & we celebrated her birthday all day, while in the wind, a rain storm brewed up. We had cake & tea & later the afternoon our family & our mates’ families went down to Dougies to go watch our the boys play rugby. The games went well & we all enjoyed some coffee & drinks next to the field.

There is much hype as per usual this time of year, with sardines coming around the coast. So the usual festivities are on & many of us following the news & waiting in anticipation for the arrival.

Then last night, the real birthday festivities of my little sister started. We had the braai going, music playing, drinks on hand & the house was pumping with friends & noise. Lots of laughter, singing & dancing took place in between all the catching up. Luckily only after the chops & kebabs had been braaied, did the clouds break with some rain. Lots of us chilled out in the rain now & then, especially us who have been more inland for a while now & hadn’t seen rain in 2-3 months! I was thankful. Photos & crazy dances by the boys was what followed. Their wildly animated stories had us in tears with laughter. The girlfriends of the boys in my sister’s friend circle were shocked though when the boys dropped their pants & did their well known wiggle dance. They always do it in underpants. We just laughed as we were pretty used to it by now. By the time the last people had left, the rain was really setting in & I was grateful to have gotten my rowdy sister to bed, take a hot shower, locked up & to get into bed as well.

It was a crazy but fun night! A good old day on the coast. With the beauty of waking up to beautiful waves & some glorious sunshine this morning! And today, was the last day of the week long Mr Price Pro, with some of the guys who really kicked ass!

Celebrating what God is doing in Africa

Last night I was with Mari at the MIA2012 event at Fountains Valley, Pretoria. Great event sending out hundreds of students on outreach to different countries from the equator downwards in Africa. Last night was the opening of the 3 day conference that takes place as we send off different teams and the first team was sent off to Madagascar. We prayed for them and just celebrated with stories and worship about what God is busy doing in Africa. It was an amazing evening, we worshiped in Ryno’s words “until the dust came alive”, but needless to say we froze our butts off!

So I just thought as we are celebrating outreaches and what God is doing in Africa, I would share some photo’s of the special moments on outreach that I have experienced in my 2 and a half years at Varsity so far
