Shaking boots

1231664_10151869525547384_1247740628_nWaking up to this message this morning was pretty much a great blessing! Feeling so overwhelmed by Daddy’s love for me…This was what my heart needed to hear.

It’s my second day without a voice..trying to figure out if it is just the quick change of seasons we have just experienced or is this a spiritual attack. The whole week I have been experiencing a terrible tummy thing – definitely been a spiritual attack and I’m guessing losing my voice now is one too. One of many that I have had to experience as I get closer to the destiny God has placed in my life.

Cape Town is coming up. And I guess I’m starting to doubt and freak out a little. I haven’t ever been to Cape Town, yet I have been called to prison ministry over there. And then I have had a friend prophesy that I will have doors opened in Cape Town as well as internationally and suddenly I’m shaking in my boots. I don’t know if it is just me being so close to the big moment when my dream happens or it is me really being scared. But whatever it is…yeah I’m freaking out. I have played it cool until now. I have been excited about this and super brave, but now I am finding myself a little shaken up over this and I don’t know why….

I guess it’s also because I have no place to stay yet, no money, I don’t know Cape Town and I don’t have family or anyone there really….I have to leave my sister… My friends… I really am gonna be all by myself. So I am feeling overwhelmed. Oh and I am supposed to go in November – eeeeek…. Doors are open there with ministry and ministering but further than that I can’t see anything…. but all I know is that I can’t look at what I see around me and need to focus on what is already there in the spiritual… And God has promised to provide, so I’m trusting He’ll come through with all these things….

And that is why – that message – that little picture – was such a blessing this morning…Because my boots have been shaking.

So I am praying God will provide every day and thanking Him for this opportunity…praying He will re-assure me every day…

New Adventures

During the last week, a lot has happened in my life and it seems God is taking me in a different direction and on a new journey…. I’m changing varsities and it seems like I’ll be a part time student soon enough and working. But I have no idea where I’m going.

In this week of chaos, Freddie and Ashley stopped by to surprise Jean, so we got some time to catch up! Totally amazing and always a blessing to see them. Really did pick up my week.

Jean has flown to Cape Town to visit Cornu. I haven’t been to Cape Town but it feels it might be the direction I’m heading towards… So Jean has been sending me beautiful pics of Cape Town. While he’s away, I’m chilling out and getting ready for our Balito trip next week with Cornu and Eline. Unfortunately Freddie and Ashley won’t be joining us, but we’ll hopefully see them for my birthday at the end of August and will definitely see them in October for a weekend when we celebrate Freddie’s birthday.

New adventures are on the horizon, new places, new friends… It really is an exciting time 🙂

Treasuring Stories

This week has been a blessing as it is September, which means Spring for us! I experienced a hot season of Spring while being away on the game farm over the weekend but during the week it suddenly became cold & windy & in this dry, dusty Pretoria – the Spring Rains have come upon us. It has been cold & amazing cuddle weather – which can explain all the couples I’ve noticed but it has been refreshing to see the land washed clean of dust & smelling fresh every day.

Anyway, back to what I was thinking of saying…. I nearly gave a report back on what happened each day this past week but decided not to. My life is a bit hectic for that. Anyway, this week I just got to treasure stories. Stories of people, stories of people’s hearts & stories written by God! I was left in awe at how God works & the stories in our lives.

My week started out well, as it sounded as if there was a spot open at ECHO for a friend to go stay. The atmosphere at home for him is truly unbearable, so I am happy God is opening a new door for him. Anyway, Wednesday Anneke came home from work. She had resigned her job, she is moving out of our house, so that she could deal with all that had happened in her life. But greatest of all, she had done all this in faith, not knowing how she would pay for anything or what would happen but God provided. She would move in with a friend, whom had an extra room & said she could stay for free. Then, another of her friends is off to Cape Town 14 September & a friend sponsored Anneke with a ticket to & from Cape Town for that same weekend. Anneke, has been wanting to go away for so long but never gets the chance & lately Cape Town had been on her heart because at the beach she could always sort out her heart & mind. Now, she got the trip. God is so extremely faithful. I was so excited.

But while this was happening, I had been on the phone with a very good friend of mine, someone so close to my heart, Elicia. She had been on the brink of telling me great news too but when Anneke came in, I put her & her story on hold! But luckily, we were able to continue our conversation after Anneke left because I was on the brink of screaming from all the anticipation & excitement. Elicia has such a beautiful heart, words cannot describe & me trying to explain will never do her justice but she has a heart of gold, a servant-heart which I so dearly cherish. Anyway, one of the guys who spoke a Tuks Missions Week who gave his testimony of smuggling Bibles into a country a few times & was such a great man of God, had gotten to know my friend that week, and has been pursuing her weeks after. He asked her out, but before he was allowed to make it public she wanted to tell me. What a girl hey! Having her in my life has been such an incredible blessing and if anyone deserved a great prince – it was most definitely her. In the midst of loving God & loving people, God sent her a knight in shining armour. I am so extremely happy for them & hope many will hear of their story, find hope in it but also praise God for it.

Then, that evening, my lovely friend Mari shared her heart & a man of God she had gotten to know, but even if nothing comes of it, she has now seen what she admires & what a true man of God looks like. So even for her, there has been a great story. Apart from that though, 3 other couples I know have gotten engaged. Sorry to the guys & girls out there, but many of my friends seem to be taken off the shelf here in September, amazing ladies & great men too. I just want to congragulate the couples, Mitch & Jaydene – well it is about freakin time! God really comes through all they do so I am so happy for them, Mitch even designed the engagement ring for Jaydene – the prettiest ring I have seen by far – a beautiful flower. Then, one of the men that started our digs back in 2010 – Teodor & his fiancé, Marie-Louis, also about time hey! So happy for them, I’m sure God will bless them with many more amazing adventures together! And then a waitress I met while drinking coffee with Michael & Charl a few years back, while at Mugg ‘n Bean doing Bible Study. This girl just amazed me, her passion, her love for God while being so much younger than I am; she had such a maturity about her – Yonela & her fiancé, Mbali.

So, this week apart from all the love going around, was just me enjoying & cherishing stories & being able to see God’s hand in it & how He knows our hearts, our needs & deepest desires & how He also brings people together! I also just learnt how important it is for me to hear people’s stories. People always think all I do is meet with people & have coffee or ‘kuier’ with people, but it really is more than that. It is hearing the stories of people, their stories are often what defines them & as I have said before, when they tell me their stories, God speaks to me & I get to connect with those people but also with God on a deeper level.  When we look at people, you don’t really know them…until you ask them or listen to their stories & then, a whole new world opens up in front of you. So this week, or further on, try cherish people’s stories, you may be surprised at what you hear…

Sunny South Coast

Well after a windy, rainy weekend the coast is sunny & warm. It is great to get up at 4.45am to do stuff and know I can actually feel my feet. At 4.45am here on the coast it is warm. It is a big change from the cold city where I’ll be waking up next week again.

I had a great time Friday evening with Rachel & Shaun! The braai was fun & we ended up playing a few board games including some dating game in which Shaun had to propose(again) to Rachel in 6 lines – rhyming! Haha was a fantastic evening. Was reminded why I love those two so much.

The Billabong Pro in Jbay also ended with Adriano De Souza taking the win! I must admit I didn’t see it coming but closer to the end of the competition he was definitely holding up well! Also, Stephanie Gilmore won her 5th ASP title! Pretty stoked about that one! Cool fact – Kelly Slater was exactly the same age when he won his 5th ASP title! So is Steph the next Kelly Slater in the girl world?! Well, we’ll have to wait & see.

Then this week has been pretty chilled. Just been spending a lot of time with God and keeping chilled hey. Just been relaxing and taking in the coastal vibes as well as getting up to date in the animal world. My sister has been asked to play for Tuks Junior 7s Rugby team in September in Cape Town. So, if I thought we were getting fit this holiday, it’s nothing compared to the practices & training we’ll be having this next month or so! Super keen!!!

Last night we spent our evening with Kelly, his mates Scott & Damian. We went to watch their action cricket match. They were already stiff from Monday night’s winning match so we were laughing a lot at the way they were playing. We had a lot of fun & it was a blessing to have spent the night with them. It was one of the last times we’d see Kelly for the next 3 years, as he’s going off to the air force in August. Don’t even think he’ll be at my 21st, which I’m bummed about but you gotta do what you gotta do & he’s been keen & waiting to go for so long now. My sister is also pretty funny with her comments. So I thought I’d post her comment on last night’s action cricket – a great summary for how the evening had gone down. We’re so blessed to have so many great people in our life.
“Brother is injured, Oosthuis lost a testicle and Scott is still walking like an old lady! Well played owes haha:)
– action cricket night :)” – Chantelle

Have a great weekend everyone!

*One of the photos of a surfer on a huge ass wave is of Gabe Davies from Ireland & the pic of the guy kissing the trophy, is (you guessed it) Brazillian Adriano De Souza.
