SUMMER AND FREEDOM…3fdb4edf9cc118edc3a80572e19dfc17

I guess these are the words that pop into my head when Spring and Summer come rolling around!!73ef03b335953510808075c70fe270e7

It has been such an intense few months that have been overloaded with millions of things. Winter this year wasn’t bland at all. There were so many new friendships and opportunities and it really was awesome but it was just as intense with many new truths and principles and a lot of change.2a9d5c67729b8803a7167521cfb9e252

But I don’t know, I get excited and super pumped up when the new season starts and we get to enjoy a whole different kind of warmth again. I guess it is also because I grew up at the coast with the beach basically in our backyard and when you move to a city with none of that, the seasons definitely affect you more. Just not used to Winter and I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to it.

So with Spring here, I’m excited that I’ll be going home in just over a week from now! I really need the time at home to just settle a few things in my heart…just get some peace. Usually I run home when I need to just escape from all the craziness and get some peace, I don’t know what it is, but I just have such magical moments and experiences with God when I’m home…aa2e49d171e1f8859bb51b573d5f2987

Anyway, apart from that I’m keen for the road trip home as well as fun adventures and experiencing amazing things. And I’m keen to see some friends..5ef240f18d3d6d64d33dc40802e3ed4f

So times with my boys and then think I’ll wana spend some time with one of my girlfriends! Would be great to catch up and do some fun summer girly things. Try new recipes, sip cocktails and just share some love and so on and I have the perfect friend in mind. Keen to see Kerry-Lee Greco!!!df6dc2c5fc590b58cdb7b5f063baa0b8

But that’s the fun thing about Spring and Summer, there are endless things to do! New recipes, wine and dine evenings, parties, night swims at the beach, tanning, getting up early for the sunrise, watching sunsets, taking pretty photos, going on little exploring adventures and just spending quality time with people!!! I don’t know what more a girl could want to keep her heart happy! I truly am blessed in every way possible with all these amazing treasures just waiting to be discovered!4cc7b34c3ed7eec36b2acc073d55ba74 1f4c3c3fff2895cca0b3efe36a4e1c6d

Then, this weekend my mom flies up to visit from the coast, my one very close friend marries her prince and then next week it’s just coffee and fun and then the great road trip home!!! I think I’m too excited to sleep or think about anything else!

My lovely Em - crazy but totally loveable

My lovely Em – crazy but totally loveable

Then today, is a very special friend’s birthday. My lovely Em is celebrating it today and it sucks that I can’t be there to celebrate with her. She’s the lucky girl who gets to live in Mozambique and just have fun in the sun all the time! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go see her in Mozam this past July holiday, so I’m totally bummed. Having separation anxiety as my sister would call it. But will definitely make a plan to go see her SOON!!! Anyway, this lovely lady is actually the younger sister of a friend of my sister and once dated my best mate Ryan. I love her to bits and pieces and she’s very chilled and I guess we both love making a good thing of situations, we kinda always hope for the best in people. Anyway, she can be outrageous and fun, she’s always fun… and laughs a lot. I don’t know how but she found such a special place in my heart although we haven’t seen each other in ages, we always have good talks! So I dearly love this crazy child!!!! And I am so happy to see her modelling a little for Rip Curl in Mozam! It has been something I have prayed for her, as she is just amazing and deserves such beautiful opportunities!!!

So happy birthday my gorgeous friend!!!! Hope you have one super blessed day and that your heart will continue to shine with love and light. May all your opportunities be blessed and may you have the greatest moments. Cherish each one! Have a fun-filled day, enjoy the partying, love, laughter and all the crazy cake moments!!!! You’re always loving and inspiring! Enjoy it! Miss and love you lots Em xx11

And with that, I want to say, enjoy this Spring and Summer and may all of you be blessed. Get ready for sun, fun, sandy hair and salty air!!! Just live it up and enjoy all of it! It really is a blessed time…

New Adventures

During the last week, a lot has happened in my life and it seems God is taking me in a different direction and on a new journey…. I’m changing varsities and it seems like I’ll be a part time student soon enough and working. But I have no idea where I’m going.

In this week of chaos, Freddie and Ashley stopped by to surprise Jean, so we got some time to catch up! Totally amazing and always a blessing to see them. Really did pick up my week.

Jean has flown to Cape Town to visit Cornu. I haven’t been to Cape Town but it feels it might be the direction I’m heading towards… So Jean has been sending me beautiful pics of Cape Town. While he’s away, I’m chilling out and getting ready for our Balito trip next week with Cornu and Eline. Unfortunately Freddie and Ashley won’t be joining us, but we’ll hopefully see them for my birthday at the end of August and will definitely see them in October for a weekend when we celebrate Freddie’s birthday.

New adventures are on the horizon, new places, new friends… It really is an exciting time 🙂
Xx

Cherishing A New Day, Week and People

It is a brand new day and I am super excited for the rest of this week. Today I get to see Liela… we need a little catch up time. Haven’t seen each other in just over a month due to funerals and exams and just both being crazily busy. So the last time we saw each other was our time at Aroma. So to this morning’s coffee and catch up session I am looking forward. It is always a blessing and fun, lots of stories, laughter and giggling as well as gratefulness along with it all. She is such a loving person – so I am just thrilled.

Then the rest of the week will get interesting. Just consisting of some work, going to the zoo in Johannesburg and a few other places, seeing Ani hopefully, intense gym sessions, an engineering end year function on Saturday for Mari and I and then spending a day with Heinrich, Karen, Ingrid and Aunty Valencia as we go watch Bernhard’s show at the Botanical Gardens. So this week is a little busy but also pretty relaxed. The week has been going well so far and God just continues to bless me which I really am thankful for. It really is a good time.

And then, today, it is Mona’s birthday! So, I am super stoked for her and wishing her a beautiful birthday. I hope it will be a very special one filled with many blessings. She really deserves an incredible day as she has been such an amazing support to me in my life and to so many others. I cherish our friendship so much and our incredible moments of sharing our hearts with each other on whatsapp while she’s at work and on the weekends when I get to see her. So to Mona, Happy Birthday, may it be incredible and we love you lots.

Xx

In a world of unknowns

In the past week I’ve had many interesting experiences…some dreadful, unsure or scary, others exciting, fun & crazy. But in having coffee with a beautiful friend of mine – Ani and in conversations with Heinrich, I’ve noticed how many of us are feeling unsure about our futures.

I know this has been a big topic of late, but it really has stood out to me and I know how much it has worried many people. There are many things in our lives that are a given and lots of times so many people in our lives have already planned out things for us. Lots of fights and disappointment come when we choose differently from that just because it was never something we wanted but what they did.

But what happens to us when the unknown settles in? When suddenly our futures aren’t a given and instead there is a question mark hanging over our heads? Do we freak out?

It is easy going when everything is already figured out for us and everything seems to be a given but when you have no clue what is going to happen next – you’re left with nothing but faith. In times like that, we often forget that our God is well known no matter how unknown our future may seem. We shouldn’t let an uncertain tomorrow erase what we do know about God and the fact that He is in control of it all. No matter what we know or don’t know and no matter who steps in, trying to intervene in our lives – He’s still the ultimate authority in our lives. We may be unsure of what is coming next in our lives but so what?! – We are still sure of God and that means we can be sure of His protection and peace.

Hebrews 11v1-2: Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see. God accepted our ancestors because of their faith.

The evidence of this in your spiritual life is when your heart is okay and content with living with the unknown on a daily basis, because where the unknown is – there is faith. Without these mysteries in our lives every now and then – our faith would be weak and useless, because without being completely dependent on God, our faith wouldn’t be ‘convinced of the existence of things we cannot see.’

So when things seem a little foggy and confusing, like the future is uncertain – don’t freak out, because those moments when you don’t know what comes next, your faith gets stronger and your belief gets a boost of encouragement. So try accepting the idea of uncertainty in your life, look to the one who is certain and life will be the greatest adventure ever known to you.

Limitless

Months ago, I saw Tot reading a book which really intrigued me, especially the title. Unlimiting God by Richard Blackaby. I’ll be reading that this holiday.

But I have a new prayer, which Tot and some others have too. Very simple but it applies to everything I do, every piece of my life. Not only is that my prayer but my hope for others too. It is as follows:

“My prayer Lord, is that I would never limit You. Amen.”

Jeremiah 33v3: “Call to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you great mysterious things that you do not know.”

Adventure of Grace & Love

I spent a weekend in Pietermaritzburg from the 17th to the 19th February, or more time in Balito than Pietermaritzburg. After Victor’s death I was a little traumatized so I was invited there by a pastor that I know. His parents live there so it was kind of like a little get away weekend.

To my surprise though, a girl named Lucinda (whom we call Tot) and Ryan (whom we call Dom) joined us. I must say it was one of the most relaxed weekends I have had in a long time and all I could say is that I honestly felt God’s love in so many ways. He blessed me that weekend by surrounding me with amazing Christians, strong of faith – something so necessary when something traumatic happens. Their love and understanding was of a different level, it was so intense and so comforting. The whole weekend it was raining, and if you know anything about me, you’ll know that God sends rain when He tries to make me aware of His presence and love and just to let me know He’s there. He often sends it as a blessing or just reminds me how I am washed clean and I should not worry, everything will be okay. So it was raining, yet we still went to the beach Saturday morning for a little swim. By the time we got to where we would swim we were soaking wet anyway.

Well there I sat and cried for what felt like forever while the others swam. But after that I felt relieved and a sense of peace just came over me. Especially after a hug from Tot and her use of an analogy of God painting and me seeing the bigger picture, getting glimpses of that. Anyway, the rest of the weekend we just chilled together, drinking tea, eating and talking, just sharing stories and knowledge of God and sharing love with each other. It was indescribable seeing how God had bought us together for that weekend and then to see how close Tot and I had gotten from just sharing a room together for a weekend and now even a week afterwards. We still talk every day and she has helped me through immense struggles.

On Saturday I had my heart broken by someone I had loved for 7 years and had finally seen I need to let him go. It just wasn’t worth being played anymore but my heart had honestly been broken a lot harder then it could ever have been broken had it been done by anyone else. But once again Tot stepped in with words of wisdom only God could give and I was comforted. Now I feel a lot stronger and more at peace…..

So through all the bad that has happened God has been faithful in bringing me closer to Him and He has blessed me with such special people that I don’t even know how to begin to thank Him!!! All I can say is I truly have been blessed and Ryan & Tot will probably never begin to understand what a blessing they have been in just a week! I seriously cannot wait for more adventures with them in this year to come!
